Spotlight on: Gladiola Creations

Let's take a look at some of the shops in CNY --

First up is Andi -- she is from Johnson City, and joined the team with in the last couple of months.

I am currently a teacher's aide for 6-8 graders for my day job. I learn something new everyday (and usually it is new math haha!) I love anything flowers, owned a flower shop and greenhouses for 20+ years and loved it. Making everything from bows, wreaths, wedding flowers and then growing most of our plants from scratch in our greenhouses was my passion. Sewing has been a hobby for many years, and I was able to make things for the flower shop to sell. I dabble in all sorts of different crafty things. Crafting relaxes me!

Gladiola Creations is named after my Gramma, Gladys. She loved to sew, everything from outfits and dresses to curtains and tablecloths, and taught me to love it too. She gave me a love for cooking, canning, and creating. Her nickname was "Gladiola" and I think it is a perfect fit for my new business. I hope she does too!

Happy Hour Cocktail Print Table Runner

A friend introduced me to Etsy a few years ago with her shopping finds, and then a niece started a business here too. After closing my flower shop 6 years ago, I realized I needed to do something creative because I missed it so much. Finally my new business was ready to go. Etsy has been a perfect fit. I also sell locally at a non profit organization that helps local cancer patients with daily life struggles.

Pastel Floral Wine Bottle Bag

My shop features table runners and wine bottle bags right now, and I love to make them. They have always been a big seller for me over the years. I finally made myself a few this last year! I plan on expanding my product line soon, I have a whole bunch of new items in the works! Stay tuned! Eventually I will branch out and be able to offer handmade wreaths and different items as well. The florist in me lives on.

treasury tuesday --

let's have some fun with treasuries and show off some of CNYs beautiful handmade items!

treasuries are a great way to promote items and get attention to items.  help out your teammates, or other treasury members by ♥ing, and promoting the treasury -- as well as the items.  people will see it in thier etsy feed and everyone gets more attention.

the easiest way i've found to add a treasury to facebook is to take a screen shot of the treasury, and add a link to your post so people can visit the shops and such.

Tags and Keywords

Tags and Keywords and their importance...By using them effectively--- this is how others find your shop and the items in them. This is how you get much needed exposure. This is how others find your items for treasuries. Team Tags are super important!

As I was wandering around our member pages.. there are quite a few of you that do not use Team tags in your descriptions. How do you expect other team members to find you? I for one, do not have the time in my day to go through each of  the members page and check the shops for items that I want in my treasury. With a team tag- I just have to do a search for that tag and find the shops/items that way-- so much easier. 

Another problem I have seen is that there are some of the shops that use the same tag over  again. Like "PLUS Size", "Plus SIZE" &  "plus size" (notice the caps or not)... what? They have just wasted a tag(s). When in doubt-- add in a team tag! 

Also-- you are allowed 13 Tags-- USE them all. It can only help you.  Sometimes, I run out of descriptive adjectives for my items... and then you will see some items that pretty much have all my team tags in them!

Check your stats to see what others are looking for.. take your cue from them. If customers are searching for "Teal" shirts and you sell "Turquoise" Shirts... Change your tags to include "Teal"!  

What you might think is obvious-- might not be to someone searching. Try to think in those terms. Also a tag that just says "Big".. is a waste.. Something more like "Big Bath Towel" would be better. You are allowed 20 letters in your tags. Use them. By doing this.. (Big Bath Towel) you have just put 3 tags into 1 and effectively described what you are selling. Use your caps to seperate the words.
